The Hamilton Caledonian Society Pipe Band (HCSPB) will now be competing in Grade 2, after recommendation by the RNZPBA Grading committee. This comes on the back of a successful 2018 NZ Pipe Band Championships in Grade 3.
HCSPB Pipe Major Meleana Eade said, We are excited and ready for the challenges being in Grade 2 will bring.
"Whilst we are excited and will take on this new challenge with energy, we will still be continuing to focus on building up a sustainable organisation. Starting with forming a development band.
The new development band will consist of juvenile players, with adult playing mentors.
RNZPBA President Allister Macgregor said, The Royal New Zealand Pipe Bands Association (RNZPBA) congratulates the Hamilton Caledonian Society Pipe Band on their recent promotion to Grade 2.
"This success is the culmination of a programme of work to revitalise and refocus the Societies flagship band winning Grade 4A and Grade 3 in successive years and now earning the promotion to Grade 2. A core factor in this achievement has been the excellent leadership at the top by key personnel," says Macgregor.
The HCSPB won Grade 4a in 2017, Grade 3 in 2018. After recommendation from the RNZPBA, they will now compete in Grade 2, this is a result of a successful 2017/18 season campaign.
